CALL FOR PAPERS

Fourth Nordic Conference on Philosophical Practice:

”MEANINGFUL LIFE”

Time: 25.-27.4.2014
Place: Helsinki, Finland (more details coming soon)

“In the book of life, the answers aren’t in the back.”
– Charlie Brown, from the comic strip Peanuts

Following the previous meetings (Copenhagen 2011, Stockholm 2012, Oslo 2013), the general topic of the Fourth Nordic Conference on Philosophical Practice in Helsinki is meaningful life:

What does a meaningful life look like? How can it be identified and how does it feel? How can philosophy contribute to living a meaningful life? This conference calls for contributions that explore the meaningful life from the perspective of philosophical practice. How can philosophical practice promote good life – especially in today’s society? Can philosophical discussion and practices support the goals of good life? What if everything doesn’t go well – how does philosophy help or support in life’s mishaps?

We invite papers for 30 minutes presentations. We also invite live demonstrations of philosophical practice. You are welcome to organize a practical session. If we have enough demonstrations, we might organize a simultaneous program.

Send a 200 words abstract or a short idea-paper for demonstration group to pia.houni@uta.fi. Part of the meeting will be open for general public, and part of it is restricted for Nordic practitioners only.

Deadline: proposals for presentations and demonstrations by 14.2.2014.
