What is the limit of tolerance?
We live in a continent where respect for human dignity and human rights, freedom, democracy, equality are fundamental values. We also profess tolerance for other people’s culture, religion and conscience. Diversity has become an important aspect of our identity in the latest decades and an important part of the citizenship education. But sometimes we have to face some controversial issues in our everyday life. Where should we set a limit for the tolerance when this happens?
Participants are invited to bring concrete episodes of their lives at the beginning of our dialogue, that can help us to better understand the limit of tolerance and to explore this concept.
Socratic method encourages participants to reflect and think critically. Dialogue is a group discussion that starts from one’s personal experiences and gradually transcends the individual perspective in a shared search for truth. Socratic method is a great way to learn critical thinking skills, gain confidence in one’s own thinking and to learn to investigate a topic together in an honest and respectful atmosphere.
