Call for papers
The topic ”Philosophical Practice and Education” invites us to enquire about the present educa- tional ideals, aims and practices in the field. Education takes place not only in schools, but also in work places, homes, libraries, art museums, in therapy, in interaction with media and the like. What is the link between philosophical practices and education? Do they contribute to the culti- vation of an autonomous individual or a citizen? What is their potential role in the transfor- mation of culture and society? All these questions, and more, are investigated to promote trans- parency and self-reflection in the field of philosophical practice.
The approach of the conference is practical. We invite people to facilitate philosophical work- shops and to combine theoretical reflection with practical cases and experiences.
Send us your abstract (max. 300 words) in response to our Call for Papers. There are 2 categories for submission:
We invite you to propose a workshop linked to the conference topic. Submit an abstract for a workshop you would like to facilitate. Describe the method or the approach you are fol- lowing, as well as the topic of your workshop. Give your workshop a title. It is also important that you tell us the maximum amount of participants that can participate in your workshop. The time frame is 1,5 hours.
2. Presentation or a Case study of philosophical practices of education
Submit an abstract for a presentation or a case study from your practice. In a presentation we invite you to present a theoretical aspect of the conference topic with an illustrating practical example or an experience. In a case study we invite you to present a philosophical practice project you conducted at your school, at your workplace or in some other context. Give your presentation or case study a title. The time frame is 20 minutes for the presenta- tion/case study and another 20 minutes for the following discussion, total of 40 minutes.
We encourage you to give your contribution in English, but if you absolutely prefer some Nordic language instead, please let us know. There is the possibility to offer some parallel sessions in Nordic languages.
Submit your abstract to email@example.com. Deadline for submission is February 22, 2019. The program will be launched by 8.3.2019
